Katherine Sawyer is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. She specializes in treating adolescents and young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, family conflict, suicidal thoughts, self-harming behaviors, and trauma while under the supervision of Dr. Samantha Klassen, PhD, LPC-S. Katherine’s approach to counseling is grounded in Person-Centered Therapy, and she integrates aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy.
Katherine earned her Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Texas A&M University-Commerce, and she is also certified in Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy through the Eagala training program. Equine-assisted therapy incorporates horses into individual and group counseling, helping clients relieve psychological distress, build trust and confidence, change unhealthy patterns of behavior, and experience emotional growth and healing. Katherine’s education and training have prepared her to work with clients through the traditional lens of talk therapy, as well as through experiential modalities.
